Tuesday Toast: Justice Chile Eboe Osuji

The International Criminal Court (“ICC”) at a plenary sitting elected Justice Chile Eboe Osuji as President of the Court for a three-year term with immediate effect. Born and bred in Nigeria, Chile Eboe Osuji obtained his Bachelors of Law degree from the University of Calabar in 1985 before going on to bag an LL.M from McGill University, Canada and a PhD from the University of Amsterdam, Netherlands in 1991 and 2011 respectively. He was elected to ICC in December 16, 2011, thus making him the first judge of Nigerian descent in that Court. He also taught international criminal law as an adjunct professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Ottawa, Canada, and has an extensive record of legal scholarship and publications.
